Artist Info
HANATSUmiroir is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2010 by four young musicians from Japan. The group's name is a combination of two Japanese words: "hanatsu," which means "to bloom," and "miroir," which means "mirror." The name reflects the group's mission to create music that reflects the beauty and diversity of the world around them. The founding members of HANATSUmiroir were Ayumi Paul (violin), Yuki Kasai (violin), Yoko Ikeda (viola), and Claudius Herrmann (cello). All four musicians had studied at the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and had already established themselves as talented soloists and chamber musicians. From the beginning, HANATSUmiroir set out to explore a wide range of musical styles and genres. The group's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as contemporary pieces by living composers. The group is also known for its innovative arrangements of popular songs and film music. One of the highlights of HANATSUmiroir's early career was their performance at the 2011 Salzburg Festival. The group was invited to perform as part of the festival's "Young Talents" series, which showcases up-and-coming musicians from around the world. The group's performance was well-received by both audiences and critics, and helped to establish their reputation as one of the most exciting young ensembles in classical music. Since then, HANATSUmiroir has gone on to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. The group has appeared at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York, among others. They have also collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich and conductor Sir Simon Rattle. In addition to their live performances, HANATSUmiroir has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Bloom," was released in 2013 and features works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert. The album was praised for its "exquisite playing" and "sensitive interpretations." The group's second album, "Reflections," was released in 2016 and features works by contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. Over the years, HANATSUmiroir has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2012, the group was awarded the Salzburg Festival's "Young Talents" prize, which recognizes outstanding young musicians. They have also been awarded the Echo Klassik award, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music, for their recordings. Despite their success, HANATSUmiroir remains committed to their mission of creating music that reflects the beauty and diversity of the world around them.
