He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Jan showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Jan's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, Jan had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigy. Jan's talent continued to flourish, and he was accepted into the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory at the age of sixteen. He studied under some of the most renowned pianists in the world and quickly established himself as a rising star in the classical music world. Jan's breakthrough performance came in 2005 when he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The competition, held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world and attracts the best young pianists from around the globe. Jan's performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 was hailed as a masterpiece, and he was awarded the first prize. Following his victory at the Van Cliburn Competition, Jan's career took off. He was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.
