Artist Info
Alice Teyssier is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the industry through her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. Born in 1985 in San Francisco, California, Teyssier grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her mother was a professional flutist, and her father was a composer and conductor, which meant that Teyssier was surrounded by music from the very beginning. Teyssier began her musical education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied flute and voice. She later went on to attend the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance. During her time at Eastman, Teyssier also studied voice and became interested in contemporary music, which would later become a significant part of her career. After completing her undergraduate studies, Teyssier went on to earn a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the Yale School of Music. While at Yale, she continued to explore her interest in contemporary music and began to perform with various contemporary music ensembles. Teyssier also studied voice with renowned soprano, Phyllis Curtin, which helped her to develop her vocal skills and expand her repertoire. Following her studies at Yale, Teyssier moved to New York City, where she began to establish herself as a professional musician. She quickly became known for her versatility as a performer, and her ability to seamlessly transition between flute and voice. Teyssier began to perform with a variety of ensembles, including the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), the New York Philharmonic, and the Metropolitan Opera. One of the highlights of Teyssier's career came in 2012 when she was selected to participate in the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival. The festival, which takes place in Marlboro, Vermont, is known for bringing together some of the world's most talented young musicians to collaborate and perform together. Teyssier was one of only a handful of vocalists selected to participate in the festival that year, and she quickly made a name for herself as a standout performer. In addition to her work as a performer, Teyssier is also an accomplished educator. She has taught at a number of institutions, including the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Michigan. Teyssier is known for her ability to inspire and motivate her students, and many of her former students have gone on to successful careers in music. Throughout her career, Teyssier has received numerous awards and accolades for her work as a performer and educator. In 2014, she was awarded a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the arts. The fellowship allowed Teyssier to take a sabbatical from her teaching duties and focus on her work as a performer. In addition to the Guggenheim fellowship, Teyssier has also received awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Fromm Music Foundation, and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music. These awards have helped to cement Teyssier's reputation as one of the most talented and respected musicians in the industry. Today, Teyssier continues to perform and teach, and she remains committed to pushing the boundaries of classical music. She is known for her innovative approach to music, and her ability to seamlessly blend different genres and styles.More....
