Burgstaller Martignon 4 is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2010 by four renowned musicians: Joe Burgstaller, Hector Martignon, Jeff Reed, and Robert Jospe. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of classical, jazz, and world music, and has gained a reputation for its innovative and dynamic performances. Joe Burgstaller, the trumpet player of the group, is a former member of the Canadian Brass and has performed with numerous orchestras around the world. The ensemble's first album, "Mozart's Blue Dreams and Other Crossover Fantasies," was released in 2011 and received critical acclaim. The album features a mix of classical and jazz pieces, including a unique arrangement of Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and a jazz version of Bach's "Air on a G String." Since its founding, Burgstaller Martignon 4 has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and the Beijing International Music Festival in China. The ensemble has also collaborated with a variety of artists, including the Harlem Quartet and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. In addition to its performances, Burgstaller Martignon 4 has also received numerous awards and accolades. The ensemble was named "Best Jazz Group" at the 2012 Washington Area Music Awards and was a finalist for the 2013 International Acoustic Music Awards. The group's second album, "One Day in Brooklyn," was released in 2014 and was named one of the top jazz albums of the year by JazzTimes magazine.
