Robert von Bahr is a renowned classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the music industry. He was born on August 22, 1943, in Stockholm, Sweden. His father, Lars von Bahr, was a well-known conductor, and his mother, Ingrid von Bahr, was a pianist. Robert von Bahr grew up in a musical family and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Robert von Bahr began his music career as a cellist and studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He later became interested in music production and started his own record label, BIS Records, in 1973. The label was initially focused on recording Swedish classical music, but it soon expanded to include international artists. One of the highlights of Robert von Bahr's career was the recording of the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The project took over ten years to complete and involved recording over 200 CDs. The recordings were highly acclaimed and won numerous awards, including the Gramophone Award for Record of the Year in 1990. Robert von Bahr has also worked with many renowned classical musicians, including conductors Herbert Blomstedt and Neeme Järvi, pianist Mitsuko Uchida, and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. In addition to his work with BIS Records, Robert von Bahr has also been involved in various music organizations. He served as the chairman of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry from 1995 to 1998 and was a member of the board of the Swedish National Orchestra from 1998 to 2004. Robert von Bahr has received numerous awards for his contributions to the music industry. In 1999, he was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star by the King of Sweden for his services to Swedish music.
