La Orquesta de Colores is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Bogotá, Colombia. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of traditional Colombian music with classical music, creating a sound that is both innovative and captivating. The founding members of La Orquesta de Colores were a group of young musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to explore new musical horizons. They were inspired by the rich musical traditions of Colombia and sought to incorporate these elements into their performances. The ensemble's main members include conductor and musical director, Juan David Osorio, violinist and concertmaster, Juan Camilo Hernández, and cellist, Juan Pablo Hernández. Other members of the ensemble include violist, Laura Gómez, flutist, Ana María Gómez, and percussionist, Juan Carlos Gómez. La Orquesta de Colores has performed at numerous venues and festivals throughout Colombia and has received critical acclaim for its innovative and dynamic performances. Some of the highlights of the ensemble's major performances include their debut concert at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, where they performed a program of classical and Colombian music to a sold-out audience. The ensemble has also performed at the Festival Internacional de Música de Cartagena, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in Latin America. At the festival, La Orquesta de Colores performed a program of Colombian music arranged for a classical orchestra, which received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to their live performances, La Orquesta de Colores has also released several recordings, including their debut album, "Colores de Colombia," which features a selection of traditional Colombian music arranged for a classical orchestra. La Orquesta de Colores has received numerous awards and accolades for their innovative approach to classical music. In 2014, the ensemble was awarded the Premio Nacional de Música, the highest honor for musicians in Colombia, in recognition of their contributions to the country's cultural heritage. The ensemble has also been recognized internationally, receiving the Latin Grammy Award for Best Classical Album in 2016 for their recording of "Colores de Colombia." This award marked a significant milestone for the ensemble, as it was the first time that a Colombian classical music ensemble had won a Latin Grammy.
