He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Palmer developed a deep understanding of classical music and honed his skills as a pianist. As a teenager, Palmer began performing in concerts and competitions. He won several awards, including first prize in the International Piano Competition in Paris at the age of 16. He then went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. During his time at Curtis, Palmer had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including pianist Martha Argerich and conductor Simon Rattle. Palmer is known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he performs.
