Choeur d'Enfants d'Epalinges is a classical music ensemble based in Epalinges, Switzerland. The choir was founded in 1978 by Marie-Claire Fiaux, a music teacher who wanted to create a children's choir that would provide young singers with the opportunity to develop their musical skills and perform in public. The choir started with just a few members, but quickly grew in popularity as more children joined. Today, the choir has around 80 members, ranging in age from 7 to 18 years old. The choir is made up of both boys and girls, and is known for its high level of musical excellence. The choir's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from early music to contemporary works. The choir has performed in many prestigious venues throughout Switzerland and Europe, including the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Tonhalle in Zurich, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of the highlights of the choir's history was its performance at the 1999 World Choral Symposium in Rotterdam, where they received a standing ovation from the audience. The choir has also won numerous awards and competitions, including the Grand Prix at the International Choral Competition in Neuchâtel in 2001. The choir has been led by several different conductors over the years, including Marie-Claire Fiaux, who served as the choir's first conductor for over 20 years. In 2001, Fiaux was succeeded by Michel Corpataux, who has been the choir's conductor ever since. Under Corpataux's leadership, the choir has continued to grow and develop, and has become known for its innovative programming and high level of musical excellence. The choir has also collaborated with many other musicians and ensembles, including the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. In addition to its regular performances, the choir also participates in various educational and outreach programs, including workshops and masterclasses for young singers.
