Orchestra Philharmonia Mediterranea is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2004 by the Italian conductor, composer, and pianist, Leonardo De Amicis. The ensemble is based in Rome, Italy, and is known for its unique blend of Mediterranean and classical music. The founding of Orchestra Philharmonia Mediterranea was inspired by De Amicis' desire to create a musical ensemble that would celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Mediterranean region. He envisioned an orchestra that would bring together musicians from different countries and backgrounds, and that would showcase the diversity and beauty of Mediterranean music. To achieve this vision, De Amicis assembled a group of talented musicians from Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and other Mediterranean countries. The ensemble's main members include violinist Fabio Maestri, cellist Marco Simonacci, flutist Alessandra Amorino, and clarinetist Luca Lucchetta, among others. Since its founding, Orchestra Philharmonia Mediterranea has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Europe and beyond. The ensemble has collaborated with renowned soloists and conductors, including pianist Roberto Prosseda, violinist Salvatore Accardo, and conductor Riccardo Muti. One of the highlights of Orchestra Philharmonia Mediterranea's career was its performance at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. The ensemble was invited to represent Italy at the event, and performed a series of concerts that were attended by thousands of people from around the world.
