Role:EnsembleKMW Trio is a classical music ensemble consisting of three talented musicians: violinist Maria Bachmann, cellist Wendy Sutter, and pianist Jon Klibonoff. The trio was formed in 2002 and has since become one of the most sought-after chamber music groups in the world. Maria Bachmann was born in New York City and began playing the violin at the age of four. She studied at the Juilliard School and later at the Curtis Institute of Music. Bachmann has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including pianist Emanuel Ax and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Wendy Sutter was born in Los Angeles and began playing the cello at the age of six. She studied at the Juilliard School and later at the Yale School of Music. Sutter has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many famous musicians, including composer Philip Glass and singer-songwriter Sting. Jon Klibonoff was born in New York City and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music and later at the Juilliard School. Klibonoff has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many famous musicians, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Joshua Bell. The KMW Trio was formed in 2002 when Bachmann, Sutter, and Klibonoff decided to join forces and create a chamber music ensemble. The trio's name is derived from the first letter of each member's last name. The group quickly gained a reputation for their virtuosic playing and their ability to bring new life to classical music repertoire. One of the highlights of the KMW Trio's career was their performance at the 2005 Mostly Mozart Festival in New York City. The trio performed Mozart's Piano Trio in B-flat Major, K. 502, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The New York Times called the performance "exquisite" and praised the trio's "seamless interplay and impeccable musicianship." In 2007, the KMW Trio released their debut album, "Trios," which featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Dvorak. The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the best classical albums of the year by The New York Times. The trio's second album, "American Canvas," was released in 2010 and featured works by American composers such as Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland. The KMW Trio has also been recognized for their commitment to education and outreach. The trio has performed in schools and community centers across the United States, introducing classical music to new audiences and inspiring the next generation of musicians. In 2012, the trio was awarded the Paul Newman Award for their work with the Music for Food organization, which raises money for hunger relief through classical music concerts. In addition to their work as a trio, Bachmann, Sutter, and Klibonoff are all accomplished soloists and chamber musicians. Bachmann is the founder and artistic director of the Telluride Musicfest in Colorado, while Sutter is a member of the Philip Glass Ensemble and has performed in many of Glass's operas.More....
