Maxine Roach was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. She was born on January 10, 1929, in New York City, to parents who were both musicians. Her father, Max Roach, was a famous jazz drummer, and her mother, Abby Lincoln, was a jazz singer. Growing up in a musical family, Maxine was exposed to music from an early age and developed a passion for it. Maxine started her musical journey by learning to play the piano at the age of six. She later switched to the cello, which became her primary instrument. She received her formal education in music at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Bernard Greenhouse. She also studied with Pablo Casals, one of the greatest cellists of the 20th century. Maxine's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age. She made her debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 16, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto.
