Ensemble Polysono is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for contemporary music. The ensemble is based in Paris, France, and is known for its innovative and experimental approach to classical music. The founding members of Ensemble Polysono were flutist Camille Emaille, clarinetist Raphaël Sévère, pianist Adam Laloum, and cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière. All four musicians had already established themselves as soloists and chamber musicians before coming together to form the ensemble. From the beginning, Ensemble Polysono set out to explore the boundaries of classical music and to push the limits of what was possible with traditional instruments. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by contemporary composers such as Pierre Boulez, György Ligeti, and Kaija Saariaho, as well as lesser-known composers and new works commissioned specifically for the ensemble. One of the highlights of Ensemble Polysono's early career was their performance at the Festival d'Automne à Paris in 2013. The ensemble performed a program of works by Boulez, Ligeti, and Saariaho, which was met with critical acclaim. The performance was praised for its technical precision and the ensemble's ability to convey the emotional depth of the music. In 2014, Ensemble Polysono was awarded the Prix de la Révélation Classique by the French music magazine Diapason. The award recognized the ensemble's exceptional talent and their contribution to the world of classical music. Over the years, Ensemble Polysono has continued to perform at major festivals and concert halls around the world. In 2016, the ensemble performed at the Festival Musica in Strasbourg, where they premiered a new work by composer Philippe Manoury. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising the ensemble's ability to bring the complex and challenging music to life. In addition to their performances, Ensemble Polysono has also been active in commissioning new works for the ensemble. In 2018, the ensemble premiered a new work by composer Benjamin Attahir at the Festival d'Automne à Paris. The piece, titled "Alif," was inspired by the poetry of Rumi and featured a unique blend of traditional and contemporary musical elements. Ensemble Polysono's commitment to innovation and experimentation has earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic classical music ensembles of their generation. Their performances are characterized by a sense of adventure and a willingness to take risks, which has endeared them to audiences around the world. As the ensemble continues to grow and evolve, they remain committed to pushing the boundaries of classical music and exploring new ways to engage with audiences. With their exceptional talent and innovative spirit, Ensemble Polysono is sure to continue making waves in the world of classical music for years to come.
