Noreen Cassidy-Polera is a renowned classical pianist and educator, known for her virtuosic performances and dedication to promoting the works of contemporary composers. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1963, Cassidy-Polera began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Throughout her career, Cassidy-Polera has been recognized for her exceptional musicianship and dedication to the art of classical piano. She has won numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1986, which launched her career as a soloist. She has also been a finalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition, among others. She has performed with many of the world's leading ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Borromeo String Quartet, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She is also a founding member of the Boston Chamber Music Society, which has been praised for its innovative programming and commitment to contemporary music.
