She was the daughter of Italian immigrants and grew up in a musical family. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a singer. Zucca began playing the piano at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. Zucca studied music at the Institute of Musical Art in New York City, which is now known as the Juilliard School. She also studied in Europe, where she was exposed to the works of classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. Zucca was particularly interested in opera and began composing her own works. In 1914, Zucca composed her first opera, "The Argonauts," which was based on the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts. The opera was well-received and was performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Zucca continued to compose operas throughout her career, including "The Lady of Shalott" and "The Green Flute." Zucca also composed music for ballets, including "The Bluebird" and "The Firebird." Her music was known for its romantic and lyrical qualities, and she often incorporated folk melodies into her compositions. In addition to her work as a composer, Zucca was also a pianist and performed her own works in concerts. She was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and was recognized for her contributions to classical music. Zucca's career was cut short by her untimely death in 1981. However, her legacy lives on through her compositions, which continue to be performed and appreciated by classical music enthusiasts around the world.More....
