Born in Tirana, Albania, in 1979, Kodheli showed an early interest in music and began playing the cello at the age of six. His parents, both musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Kodheli's family moved to the United States when he was ten years old, and he continued his musical education at the Juilliard School in New York City. He studied under the tutelage of renowned cellist Joel Krosnick and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2001. After completing his studies, Kodheli began performing with various orchestras and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the American Symphony Orchestra. He also collaborated with a number of notable musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Philip Glass, and Sting. In addition to his work as a cellist, Kodheli is also an accomplished composer.
