Ensemble Iberoamericano is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1993 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for the music of Latin America and Spain. The ensemble is based in New York City and is made up of some of the most talented musicians from around the world. The founding members of Ensemble Iberoamericano were violinist Leonardo Suarez Paz, cellist Carlos Prieto, and pianist Ana Maria Tradatti. They were soon joined by flutist Marco Granados, guitarist Pablo Cohen, and percussionist Rolando Morales-Matos. Together, they set out to explore the rich and diverse musical traditions of Latin America and Spain, and to bring this music to audiences around the world. Over the years, Ensemble Iberoamericano has grown and evolved, with new members joining and others leaving. Today, the ensemble is made up of a core group of musicians, including Leonardo Suarez Paz on violin, Carlos Prieto on cello, Ana Maria Tradatti on piano, and Marco Granados on flute. They are joined by a rotating cast of guest musicians, including guitarists, percussionists, and other instrumentalists. One of the highlights of Ensemble Iberoamericano's career was their performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 1996. The ensemble was invited to perform as part of the Kennedy Center's "AmericArtes" festival, which celebrated the music and culture of Latin America. The performance was a huge success, and helped to establish Ensemble Iberoamericano as one of the premier classical music ensembles in the United States. Since then, Ensemble Iberoamericano has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the classical music world, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma and conductor Gustavo Dudamel. In addition to their live performances, Ensemble Iberoamericano has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Iberian and Latin American Music for Strings," was released in 1995 and featured works by composers such as Manuel de Falla, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Astor Piazzolla. The album was praised for its virtuosic performances and its ability to capture the spirit and energy of the music. Ensemble Iberoamericano has also been recognized for their contributions to the world of classical music. In 2001, they were awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Classical Album for their recording of "Tango, Song and Dance." The album featured works by Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, and was praised for its innovative arrangements and passionate performances.
