Artist Info
Florence Delaage was born on May 12, 1985, in Paris, France. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Florence showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She quickly progressed and started performing in public at the age of six. Florence's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned pianists in Paris and soon became a prodigy. At the age of 12, Florence won her first international piano competition in Italy, which marked the beginning of her successful career. Over the years, Florence continued to win numerous competitions and awards, including the prestigious Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, in 2005. Her performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth, and she quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of her generation. Florence's repertoire was vast and included works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. She was particularly known for her interpretations of Chopin's music, which she played with great sensitivity and nuance. In addition to her solo performances, Florence also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She performed under the baton of some of the most renowned conductors, such as Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Zubin Mehta. One of Florence's most memorable performances was at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2010. She played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the London Symphony Orchestra, and her performance was met with a standing ovation from the audience. The concert was broadcast live on television and watched by millions of people around the world. Florence's talent and hard work were recognized by numerous awards and honors throughout her career. She was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2012, and in 2015, she was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Music. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians in the United States. Despite her success, Florence remained humble and dedicated to her craft. She continued to practice for hours every day and was always looking for ways to improve her playing. She also devoted time to teaching and mentoring young musicians, passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation. Tragically, Florence's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2018. She underwent treatment and continued to perform whenever she could, but her health deteriorated rapidly. She passed away on June 15, 2019, at the age of 34. Florence Delaage's legacy lives on through her recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to hear her play. She was a true artist who dedicated her life to music and inspired countless people with her talent and passion. Her contributions to the world of classical music will never be forgotten.More....
