He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Martha Argerich, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Ellis developed his skills and quickly became a prodigy. Ellis continued his musical education at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist, Emanuel Ax. The competition, held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world.
