The Temple University Concert Choir is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 50 years. The choir was founded in 1963 by Dr. Robert Page, who served as its director until 2005. Since then, the choir has been led by Dr. Paul Rardin, who has continued to build on the choir's legacy of excellence. The Temple University Concert Choir is made up of approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate students from Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. The choir's repertoire spans a wide range of musical styles, from Renaissance choral works to contemporary compositions. The choir has also collaborated with a number of renowned composers and conductors, including John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, and Zubin Mehta. Over the years, the Temple University Concert Choir has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. The choir has also toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad, performing in countries such as Italy, Spain, and China. One of the choir's most notable performances took place in 1984, when they were invited to perform at the White House for President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan. The choir's performance was so well-received that they were invited back to the White House in 1988 to perform for President Reagan's farewell address. In addition to their numerous performances, the Temple University Concert Choir has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1996, the choir was awarded the prestigious Sudler Trophy, which is given annually to the top collegiate marching band, concert band, or symphonic band in the United States. The choir was the first non-instrumental ensemble to receive this award. The choir has also been recognized for their outstanding recordings. In 2001, their recording of Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Choral Performance category. The choir has also released several other critically acclaimed recordings, including "A Child's Requiem" and "The Music of Robert Page." Despite their many accomplishments, the Temple University Concert Choir remains committed to their mission of providing exceptional musical experiences for their audiences. The choir's dedication to excellence and their passion for music continue to inspire audiences around the world.
