Dalasinfoniettan is a classical music ensemble based in the city of Falun, Sweden. The ensemble was founded in 1985 by conductor and composer Mats Rondin, with the aim of bringing high-quality classical music performances to the region of Dalarna. The ensemble's name, Dalasinfoniettan, is a combination of two words: "Dalarna," the region in which the ensemble is based, and "sinfonietta," a term used to describe a small orchestra. From its inception, Dalasinfoniettan has been committed to performing a wide range of classical music, from the Baroque era to contemporary works. The ensemble has also been dedicated to promoting the work of Swedish composers, both past and present. Over the years, Dalasinfoniettan has attracted a number of talented musicians, many of whom have become mainstays of the ensemble. These include violinist Cecilia Zilliacus, cellist Kati Raitinen, and clarinetist Emil Jonason, among others. One of the highlights of Dalasinfoniettan's early years was its collaboration with the Swedish composer Lars Johan Werle. In 1990, the ensemble premiered Werle's "Concerto for Orchestra," which was later recorded and released on CD. In the years that followed, Dalasinfoniettan continued to build its reputation as one of Sweden's leading classical music ensembles. The ensemble performed at a number of prestigious venues, including the Stockholm Concert Hall and the Royal Palace in Stockholm. In 2005, Dalasinfoniettan received the prestigious Swedish Music Publishers' Association Award for its contributions to the promotion of Swedish music. The ensemble was also awarded the Swedish Radio Prize in 2010 for its recording of the music of composer Anders Hillborg. In recent years, Dalasinfoniettan has continued to push the boundaries of classical music, collaborating with a diverse range of artists and composers. In 2018, the ensemble premiered a new work by the Swedish composer Tobias Broström, titled "Arena – Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra." Today, Dalasinfoniettan remains one of Sweden's most respected classical music ensembles. The ensemble's commitment to promoting Swedish music and its dedication to performing a wide range of classical works has earned it a loyal following both in Sweden and abroad.More....
