The founding members of the Cellists of Staatskapelle Berlin were Ludwig Quandt, Richard Duven, Christoph Igelbrink, Martin Lohr, Knut Weber, and Dietmar Schwalke. All six cellists were members of the Staatskapelle Berlin, which was founded in 1570 and has a rich history of performing classical music.
