Stephen Hatfield is a Canadian composer, arranger, and conductor who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on October 2, 1956, in the city of London, Ontario, Hatfield grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a church organist, and his mother was a singer. Hatfield began playing the piano at the age of four and later learned to play the guitar and the trumpet. He attended the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in composition and theory. He later earned a Master of Music degree in composition from the same institution.
