Artist Info
Le Concert Idéal is a French classical music ensemble that was founded in 2010 by violinist and conductor Marianne Piketty. The ensemble is known for its innovative and dynamic performances of Baroque and Classical music, as well as its commitment to exploring lesser-known works and composers. Marianne Piketty, who serves as the ensemble's artistic director and principal violinist, has been praised for her virtuosic playing and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she performs. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors, and has won numerous awards for her work as a soloist and chamber musician. Le Concert Idéal's other core members include cellist Bruno Cocset, harpsichordist Bertrand Cuiller, and violist François Fernandez. All of these musicians are highly respected in their fields and have extensive experience performing with other ensembles and as soloists. One of Le Concert Idéal's main goals is to bring new life to Baroque and Classical music by performing it in a way that is both historically informed and emotionally engaging. The ensemble uses period instruments and techniques to recreate the sound of the music as it would have been heard in its original context, but also brings a fresh perspective to the music through its innovative interpretations and improvisations. Le Concert Idéal has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Salzburg Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including jazz pianist Jacky Terrasson, flamenco dancer Antonio Canales, and actor Lambert Wilson. One of Le Concert Idéal's most notable performances was its 2013 concert at the Cité de la Musique in Paris, which was broadcast live on France Musique. The concert, which featured works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel, was praised for its energy, precision, and emotional depth. In addition to its live performances, Le Concert Idéal has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. These include an album of Bach's Goldberg Variations arranged for string trio, which was named one of the best classical albums of 2015 by The Guardian, and an album of works by French Baroque composer Marin Marais, which won the Diapason d'Or award in 2017. Le Concert Idéal has also been recognized for its commitment to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has developed a program called "Baroque in the Classroom" that brings Baroque music into schools and introduces children to the instruments and techniques of the period. Overall, Le Concert Idéal is a dynamic and innovative ensemble that is dedicated to bringing new life to Baroque and Classical music. With its virtuosic playing, innovative interpretations, and commitment to education and outreach, the ensemble has established itself as one of the leading classical music ensembles in France and beyond.More....
