The founding members, who were all colleagues at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, wanted to create a group that would push the boundaries of traditional flute music and explore new sounds and techniques. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation for their innovative programming and dynamic performances. One of the highlights of Flute Force's career was their performance at the 2008 National Flute Association Convention in Kansas City. The ensemble was selected to perform in the prestigious Gala Concert, which is the highest honor a flute ensemble can receive. Their performance was met with standing ovations and rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. Flute Force has also been recognized for their recordings. Their album, "Flute Force Four," was named one of the top classical recordings of 2002 by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
