The Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 1992, the orchestra has become one of the most prominent and respected orchestras in Portugal and has gained international recognition for its performances. The orchestra was founded by conductor and composer Pedro Amaral, who served as its artistic director until 2003. The ensemble was initially formed as a chamber orchestra, but it quickly grew in size and scope, becoming a full symphony orchestra in 1994. The orchestra's mission is to promote classical music and to provide high-quality performances to audiences in Portugal and around the world. The Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra is made up of approximately 80 musicians, including some of the most talented and experienced performers in Portugal.
