From a young age, Kirschenmann showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Kirschenmann's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Kirschenmann developed a deep understanding of classical music and a strong technical foundation. As a teenager, Kirschenmann began composing his own music. He was inspired by the works of classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers like Philip Glass and John Adams. Kirschenmann's compositions were characterized by their intricate harmonies, complex rhythms, and emotional depth. After completing his undergraduate studies in music composition at the Juilliard School, Kirschenmann went on to earn a master's degree in music composition from the Yale School of Music. During his time at Yale, Kirschenmann studied with some of the most respected composers of our time, including John Adams, Steve Reich, and Kaija Saariaho. Kirschenmann's compositions have been performed by some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. His works have been praised for their originality, beauty, and emotional power. The concerto is a virtuosic showcase for the soloist, with intricate passagework and soaring melodies. The piece also features a lush orchestral accompaniment, with rich harmonies and colorful textures. Another notable work by Kirschenmann is his Symphony No. 2, which was commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra and premiered in 2010. The symphony is a powerful and emotional work, with sweeping melodies and dramatic climaxes. The piece also features intricate counterpoint and complex rhythms, showcasing Kirschenmann's technical mastery.
