Nelly Boschkowa was born on May 12, 1985, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. From a young age, Nelly showed a great interest in music and started playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Nelly attended the National School of Music in Sofia, where she studied piano under the guidance of Professor Maria Stankova. She showed exceptional talent and dedication, and her hard work paid off when she won several national and international competitions. At the age of 16, Nelly was awarded the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Belgrade, Serbia. After completing her studies in Sofia, Nelly moved to Vienna, Austria, to continue her education at the University of Music and Performing Arts. There, she studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Paul Badura-Skoda. She also had the opportunity to work with other distinguished musicians, such as Alfred Brendel, András Schiff, and Murray Perahia. Nelly's talent and hard work continued to be recognized, and she won several awards and prizes during her time in Vienna. In 2007, she was awarded the first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy. The following year, she won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship, which allowed her to continue her studies in Vienna. Nelly's career as a concert pianist took off after she won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome in 2009. This was a major achievement for Nelly, as the competition was highly prestigious and attracted some of the best pianists from around the world. Her performance was praised for its technical brilliance, musicality, and emotional depth. Since then, Nelly has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She has collaborated with many renowned orchestras, such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Nelly's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, whom she considers to be one of the greatest pianists and composers of all time. In addition to her career as a concert pianist, Nelly is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught masterclasses at several universities and conservatories around the world, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She is known for her ability to inspire and motivate young musicians, and many of her students have gone on to have successful careers in music. Nelly's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2012, she was awarded the Order of Stara Planina, one of the highest honors in Bulgaria, for her contributions to the arts. She has also been awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, and the Italian Order of Merit. Despite her many achievements, Nelly remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice for several hours every day and is always looking for ways to improve her playing.
