Role:PerformerRobert Hoyem was born on May 12, 1985, in Oslo, Norway. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Hoyem showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Hoyem's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed a passion for classical music. By the age of ten, Hoyem had already performed in several concerts and had won several awards in local competitions. In 1997, Hoyem was accepted into the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher Einar Steen-Nøkleberg. During his time at the institute, Hoyem honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. In 2003, Hoyem graduated from the Barratt Due Institute of Music with top honors. He then went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where he received a scholarship to study under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher John Lill. During his time at the Royal College of Music, Hoyem participated in several competitions and won numerous awards. In 2005, he won the prestigious Royal College of Music Concerto Competition, which led to his debut performance with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Hoyem's performance with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was a huge success, and he received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing and musicality. This performance marked the beginning of Hoyem's career as a soloist, and he soon began performing with orchestras and in recitals all over the world. Over the years, Hoyem has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Valery Gergiev. Hoyem's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, and has been praised for his ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of Liszt's music. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Hoyem is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Tokyo String Quartet. Throughout his career, Hoyem has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Young Artist Award and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award. Despite his success, Hoyem remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for several hours a day and is always looking for ways to improve his playing and deepen his understanding of music. In addition to his performing career, Hoyem is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is also a faculty member at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he teaches piano and chamber music.More....
