Ibis Camerata is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 in Miami, Florida. The ensemble is made up of a group of highly skilled musicians who are dedicated to performing classical music at the highest level. The ensemble has gained a reputation for its innovative programming and its ability to connect with audiences through its performances. The founding members of Ibis Camerata were violinist Daniel Andai, cellist Ross Harbaugh, and pianist Tao Lin. All three musicians had extensive experience performing in various ensembles and orchestras before coming together to form Ibis Camerata. They were joined by violist Chauncey Patterson and clarinetist Margaret Donaghue Flavin, both of whom brought their own unique talents and perspectives to the ensemble. From the beginning, Ibis Camerata set out to create a unique sound that blended the traditional repertoire of classical music with contemporary works and lesser-known pieces. The ensemble's first performance, which took place in 2012, featured works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann, as well as a contemporary piece by composer David Ludwig. The ensemble has also gained a reputation for its commitment to education and outreach, regularly performing in schools and community centers throughout the Miami area. One of the highlights of Ibis Camerata's career was its performance at the 2014 National Flute Association Convention in Chicago. The ensemble was invited to perform a program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as a contemporary piece by composer Robert Beaser. The performance was well-received by both the audience and critics, and helped to establish Ibis Camerata as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2016, Ibis Camerata was awarded a grant from the Knight Foundation to support its innovative programming and community outreach efforts.
