The founding members of the Dunsmuir Piano Quartet were pianist Barry Tan, violinist Ann Elliott-Goldschmid, violist Sharon Stanis, and cellist Ariel Barnes. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and chamber ensembles, and they brought their individual talents and perspectives to the quartet. The quartet takes its name from Dunsmuir House, a historic mansion in Oakland, California, where they gave their first public performance. Since then, the Dunsmuir Piano Quartet has performed in numerous venues across North America, Europe, and Asia, earning critical acclaim and a loyal following of fans. One of the highlights of the Dunsmuir Piano Quartet's career was their performance at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. The quartet was invited to perform at the Olympic Arts Festival, where they played a program of works by Mozart, Brahms, and Dvorak to a packed audience of music lovers and sports fans. The Dunsmuir Piano Quartet has also been recognized for their outstanding performances and recordings.
