Escolanía Santa Maria de la Victoria is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1487 in Malaga, Spain. The ensemble is made up of young boys who are trained in the art of singing and performing classical music. The group has a long and rich history, and has become one of the most respected and renowned ensembles in the world. The ensemble was founded by the Catholic Monarchs, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, as part of the Royal Chapel of Malaga. The purpose of the ensemble was to provide music for the chapel's religious services, and to train young boys in the art of singing. Over the years, the ensemble has continued to perform at religious services, as well as at concerts and other events. The main members of the ensemble are the young boys who make up the choir. These boys are selected from a pool of applicants, and must undergo a rigorous audition process in order to be accepted into the ensemble. Once accepted, they receive training in singing, music theory, and performance, and are expected to maintain a high level of discipline and professionalism. One of the highlights of the ensemble's history was its performance at the coronation of King Philip II of Spain in 1556. The ensemble was chosen to perform at the ceremony, which was held in the city of Valladolid. The performance was a great success, and helped to establish the ensemble's reputation as one of the finest in the country. Over the years, the ensemble has continued to perform at a variety of events and venues. In 1992, the ensemble was invited to perform at the World Youth Day celebrations in Madrid, where they performed for Pope John Paul II. The performance was a great success, and helped to raise the ensemble's profile on the international stage. In addition to its performances, the ensemble has also received a number of awards and honors over the years. In 2002, the ensemble was awarded the Gold Medal for Fine Arts by the Spanish government, in recognition of its contributions to the arts and culture of Spain. The ensemble has also been recognized by a number of other organizations and institutions, including the Vatican and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. Today, Escolanía Santa Maria de la Victoria continues to be one of the most respected and renowned classical music ensembles in the world. The ensemble's dedication to excellence and its commitment to preserving the traditions of classical music have made it a favorite of audiences and critics alike. Whether performing at religious services, concerts, or other events, the ensemble continues to inspire and delight audiences with its beautiful music and impeccable performances.
