From a young age, Yeager showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Yeager began his formal music education at the age of six, studying piano with his father. He quickly progressed and started performing in public at the age of eight. At the age of ten, he started studying violin with his mother, and by the age of twelve, he was performing as a soloist with local orchestras. In 1998, Yeager was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he continued his studies in both piano and violin. He received numerous awards and scholarships during his time at Juilliard, including the Dorothy DeLay Scholarship for Violin and the Van Cliburn Scholarship for Piano. After graduating from Juilliard, Yeager continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied with renowned violinist Ida Kavafian and pianist Gary Graffman. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Curtis in 2007. Yeager's career as a professional musician began in 2008 when he won the prestigious International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. The competition, which is held every four years, is one of the most prestigious violin competitions in the world. Yeager's performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in the final round was praised by the judges for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Following his victory at the Indianapolis competition, Yeager began to receive invitations to perform with major orchestras around the world. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2009, performing the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Alan Gilbert. The performance was widely praised by critics, who noted Yeager's virtuosity and musical sensitivity. In the years that followed, Yeager continued to perform with major orchestras around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He also became a regular guest artist at major music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. In addition to his career as a soloist, Yeager is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Yeager's recordings have received critical acclaim and have won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance in 2012 for his recording of the Brahms Piano Quintet with the Emerson String Quartet. He has also recorded solo albums of works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. Throughout his career, Yeager has been recognized for his musical achievements with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his victory at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, he has received the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and the Gilmore Artist Award.
