Revels Women Chorus is a classical music group that has been captivating audiences with their stunning performances for over three decades. The group was founded in 1987 by Jo Rasi, who had a vision of creating a women's chorus that would celebrate the rich traditions of choral music from around the world. The group started with just a handful of members, but quickly grew in popularity as word spread about their beautiful harmonies and unique repertoire. Over the years, the group has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. One of the highlights of Revels Women Chorus' career was their performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The group was selected to perform at the opening ceremony, where they sang a stirring rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience. In addition to their many performances, Revels Women Chorus has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1992, they were awarded the prestigious Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, which recognizes choirs that take risks and push the boundaries of traditional choral music. Another major highlight for the group was their performance at the 2009 World Choir Games in Graz, Austria. The group competed against choirs from around the world and won a gold medal in the women's choir category, cementing their reputation as one of the best women's choirs in the world. Despite their many accomplishments, Revels Women Chorus remains committed to their mission of celebrating the diversity of choral music from around the world. They continue to perform regularly, both in their home base of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and around the world, delighting audiences with their beautiful harmonies and unique repertoire.
