Manoel Braune was a Brazilian classical music artist who was born on August 15, 1924, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. From a young age, Braune showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Braune's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began studying music theory and piano at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. He later went on to study at the National School of Music in Rio de Janeiro, where he received a degree in piano performance. After completing his studies, Braune began performing as a solo pianist in Brazil. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical skill and musicality, and he was soon invited to perform in other countries. In 1950, he made his international debut in Paris, France, where he received critical acclaim for his performance. Over the next few years, Braune continued to perform in Europe and South America. He also began to expand his repertoire, performing works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. In 1954, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, which further cemented his reputation as a world-class pianist. In the late 1950s, Braune began to focus on teaching as well as performing. He became a professor of piano at the National School of Music in Rio de Janeiro, where he taught for over 30 years. He also continued to perform as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with other musicians such as cellist Antonio Meneses and violinist Isaac Stern. Throughout his career, Braune received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1965, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit by the Brazilian government. He was also a recipient of the Medalha de Ouro da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, the highest honor given by the city of Rio de Janeiro.
