Role:Composer ConductorBirth:October 20, 1901 in Rumford, MEDeath:May 14, 1942 in Castaic, CAGenre:FilmVocalFrank Churchill was an American composer who was born on October 20, 1901, in Rumford, Maine. He was the son of a Methodist minister, and his family moved frequently during his childhood. Despite this, Churchill showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at a young age. Churchill's family eventually settled in California, where he continued to pursue his musical interests. He attended Pomona College, where he studied music theory and composition. After graduating, he moved to Hollywood and began working as a composer for the film industry. Churchill's first major success came in 1933, when he composed the score for the Disney animated film "Three Little Pigs." The film's theme song, "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," became a hit and helped to establish Churchill as a prominent composer in Hollywood. Over the next several years, Churchill continued to work for Disney and composed the scores for several other animated films, including "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Pinocchio." He also worked on live-action films, such as "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." One of Churchill's most famous compositions is the song "Someday My Prince Will Come," which he wrote for the Disney film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." The song has since become a jazz standard and has been recorded by numerous artists. In addition to his work in film, Churchill also composed music for the stage. He wrote the score for the Broadway musical "The Adventures of Marco Polo" in 1938, and he also contributed songs to other musicals, such as "The Boys from Syracuse" and "Babes in Arms." Despite his success as a composer, Churchill struggled with personal demons throughout his life. He was known to be a heavy drinker, and he suffered from depression. In 1942, at the age of 40, Churchill took his own life. Despite his relatively short career, Churchill left behind a legacy of memorable compositions that continue to be celebrated today. His contributions to the world of film and music have earned him a place among the great composers of the 20th century.More....
