Kenneth Alston was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Alston showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Alston's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking private lessons with renowned violinists and attending music camps during the summers. By the time he was a teenager, Alston had already won several competitions and was gaining recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2003, Alston was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. He studied under the guidance of Itzhak Perlman, one of the greatest violinists of all time. During his time at Juilliard, Alston continued to win competitions and perform in major venues around the world. One of Alston's most notable performances was in 2007, when he was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of the Isaac Stern Memorial Concert. Alston played the Brahms Violin Concerto, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The New York Times called him "a virtuoso of the highest order" and praised his "impeccable technique and emotional depth." In 2008, Alston graduated from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Music degree. He then went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied under the guidance of Aaron Rosand. While at Curtis, Alston continued to perform in major venues and win competitions, including the Philadelphia Orchestra's Greenfield Competition. After graduating from Curtis in 2010, Alston began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel.
