Role:ComposerGenre:ChamberKeyboardGiovanni Daelli was an Italian composer born on January 1, 1822, in Milan, Italy. He was the son of a musician and grew up in a musical family. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a singer. From a young age, Giovanni showed a great interest in music and began studying the piano and violin. At the age of 16, Giovanni began studying composition with the famous Italian composer, Vincenzo Bellini. Bellini recognized Giovanni's talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Giovanni continued his studies with Bellini for several years, and during this time, he composed his first works. In 1842, Giovanni's first opera, "Il Conte di Chalais," was premiered in Milan. The opera was well-received, and it marked the beginning of Giovanni's successful career as a composer. Over the next few years, Giovanni composed several more operas, including "La Contessa di Montalbano" and "La Figlia del Reggimento." In 1850, Giovanni was appointed as the director of the Milan Conservatory. He held this position for several years and was responsible for training many of Italy's most talented musicians. During this time, Giovanni continued to compose, and his works became increasingly popular. One of Giovanni's most famous works is his opera, "La Sonnambula." The opera premiered in Milan in 1859 and was an instant success. The opera tells the story of a young woman who sleepwalks and is accused of infidelity. The opera's beautiful melodies and emotional depth made it a favorite among audiences, and it remains one of Giovanni's most popular works to this day. In addition to his operas, Giovanni also composed several instrumental works, including symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. His "String Quartet No. 1" is particularly notable for its innovative use of harmony and form. Giovanni continued to compose throughout his life, and his works remained popular even after his death in 1878. His influence on Italian music cannot be overstated, and he is remembered as one of the greatest composers of the 19th century.More....
