Runette Gabrielle, a native of the Philippines, began playing the flute at the age of 10. She went on to study at the University of the Philippines College of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance. She later pursued her Master of Music degree at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. Gabrielle has performed with various orchestras and ensembles in the Philippines and has also participated in international music festivals in Japan, Singapore, and the United States. Dako Shirai, a native of Japan, began playing the piano at the age of 4. He studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. He later pursued his Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Shirai has won numerous awards and competitions, including the first prize at the 2012 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and the 2013 Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. The duo first met while studying at the Manhattan School of Music and quickly discovered their shared passion for chamber music. They began performing together as a duo and soon realized that they had a special musical connection. In 2015, they officially formed Runedako Duo and began performing together regularly. Since their formation, Runedako Duo has performed at numerous venues and festivals in the United States and Asia. They have been praised for their exceptional musicianship and their ability to connect with audiences through their performances. Some of their most notable performances include their debut recital at the Yamaha Piano Salon in New York City, their performance at the 2016 Philippine International Jazz and Arts Festival, and their performance at the 2017 Japan-Philippines Friendship Concert in Tokyo. In addition to their performances, Runedako Duo has also been recognized for their outstanding achievements in music. They were awarded the 2016 Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship, which allowed them to further their studies and perform in Europe. They were also finalists in the 2017 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa, where they received high praise from the judges for their exceptional musicianship and artistry. Runedako Duo's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary.
