The group was founded in 1990 by conductor and clarinetist Giora Feidman, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest clarinetists of the 20th century. Feidman, who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1936, began playing the clarinet at a young age. He moved to Israel in 1957 and quickly established himself as a leading figure in the country's music scene. He played with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Army Orchestra before embarking on a solo career. In 1990, Feidman founded the Israeli Wind Virtuosi, a group of talented musicians who shared his passion for classical music. The ensemble consists of clarinets, flutes, oboes, bassoons, and horns, and they perform a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. The Israeli Wind Virtuosi quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional performances, and they have since performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of the highlights of the Israeli Wind Virtuosi's career was their performance at the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway. The group was invited to perform for Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, and other world leaders who were gathered to celebrate the signing of the Oslo Accords. The Israeli Wind Virtuosi have also received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 1996, they were awarded the Israel Prize, the country's highest honor for excellence in the arts and sciences. They have also been awarded the Jerusalem Prize and the Wolf Prize, among others. In addition to their performances, the Israeli Wind Virtuosi are also committed to music education. They regularly hold masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and they have established a music school in Israel to provide music education to underprivileged children. The Israeli Wind Virtuosi continue to be one of the most respected and admired classical music ensembles in the world. Their commitment to excellence and their passion for music have earned them a place in the hearts of music lovers everywhere.More....
