Ensemble Tourbillon is a classical music group that specializes in performing Baroque music. The group was founded in 2000 by the German harpsichordist and conductor, Petra Müllejans. The ensemble is made up of a group of highly skilled musicians who are dedicated to performing Baroque music with authenticity and passion. Petra Müllejans was born in 1959 in Hamburg, Germany. She began her musical studies at the age of six, learning to play the violin. She later studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, where she focused on Baroque violin and historical performance practice. Müllejans went on to become a highly respected musician in the field of Baroque music, performing with some of the most prestigious ensembles in Europe. In 2000, Müllejans founded Ensemble Tourbillon with the goal of creating a group that would specialize in performing Baroque music with authenticity and passion. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional performances, and they were soon invited to perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe. One of the highlights of Ensemble Tourbillon's career was their performance at the 2004 Salzburg Festival. The group performed a program of music by Johann Sebastian Bach, which was met with critical acclaim. The Salzburger Nachrichten praised the ensemble's "exquisite playing" and "impeccable ensemble work." Ensemble Tourbillon has also been recognized for their recordings. In 2006, the group released a recording of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, which was awarded the Diapason d'Or.
