Julian Schwarz is a renowned American cellist who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born on March 13, 1991, in Seattle, Washington, Julian was born into a family of musicians. His father, Gerard Schwarz, is a renowned conductor, and his mother, Jody Schwarz, is a pianist. Julian's parents recognized his musical talent at a young age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Julian began playing the cello at the age of five and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. He studied with Toby Saks, a renowned cellist, and continued his studies at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. Julian also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Joel Krosnick. Julian's talent was recognized early on, and he won numerous awards and competitions as a young cellist. In 2006, he won the Seattle Symphony Young Artist Competition, and in 2009, he won the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. Julian was also a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, which provided him with financial support to continue his studies. Julian's career as a professional cellist began to take off in his early twenties. He made his debut with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra in 2010, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto. He has since performed with numerous orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. One of Julian's most notable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2013. He performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with the New York Youth Symphony, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The New York Times praised his "rich, singing tone" and his "impressive technical command." In addition to his performances as a soloist, Julian is also a member of the New York-based piano trio, Trio Clavino. The trio has performed at numerous venues across the United States, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. Julian is also committed to music education and outreach. He has worked with numerous youth orchestras and has given masterclasses at schools and universities across the United States. In 2016, he founded the Seattle Cello Society, which provides opportunities for young cellists to perform and learn from professional musicians. Julian has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2013, he was named a recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians. He was also named a recipient of the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship in the Arts, which provides financial support to young artists. Julian has recorded several albums, including his debut album, "Chopin: Sonata for Cello and Piano," which was released in 2014. He has also recorded works by Brahms, Schumann, and Beethoven. In addition to his career as a cellist, Julian is also an avid photographer. He has exhibited his photographs in galleries across the United States and has published a book of his photographs, "Uncharted: A Journey Along the Edge of Time and Survival." Julian continues to perform and record as a cellist and is recognized as one of the leading young cellists of his generation. His passion for music and commitment to education and outreach make him a valuable asset to the classical music community.
