Kevin Sedatole is a renowned conductor and educator in the field of classical music. Born in 1965 in Michigan, Sedatole grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. His father was a high school band director, and his mother was a pianist and organist. Sedatole began playing the trumpet in elementary school and continued to pursue music throughout his education. Sedatole attended Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1987. He then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Michigan in 1991. During his time at Michigan State, Sedatole was a member of the Spartan Marching Band and the MSU Wind Symphony, where he played trumpet and served as a student conductor. After completing his education, Sedatole began his career as a music educator. He taught at several high schools in Michigan, including Grand Ledge High School and Portage Northern High School. In 1997, he became the Director of Bands at Michigan State University, a position he still holds today. Under his leadership, the MSU Wind Symphony has become one of the premier wind ensembles in the country, performing at major conferences and festivals around the world. In addition to his work at MSU, Sedatole is also a sought-after guest conductor and clinician. He has conducted numerous all-state and honor bands, as well as professional ensembles such as the Dallas Wind Symphony and the United States Air Force Band. He has also served as a guest conductor at several music festivals, including the Midwest Clinic and the CBDNA National Conference.
