He also incorporated elements of Western classical music into his compositions, creating a unique blend of Eastern and Western styles. In 1936, Akses was appointed as the conductor of the Istanbul Municipal Orchestra, a position he held for over 20 years. During this time, he composed many works for the orchestra, including his most famous piece, the "İstanbul Suite." This work, which was premiered in 1945, is a tribute to the city of Istanbul and its rich cultural heritage. It is a five-movement suite that incorporates elements of Turkish folk music, classical music, and jazz. He also composed several operas, including "Bay Önder" and "Kara Göl," which were both premiered in the 1950s. In addition to his work as a composer and conductor, Akses was also a respected music educator.
