Orchestra Città di Adria is a classical music ensemble based in Adria, a town in the Veneto region of Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1992 by a group of local musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to bring it to their community. The founding members of the orchestra included conductor and violinist Giuseppe Lanzetta, cellist Giuseppe Barutti, and pianist and composer Giuseppe Martucci. They were joined by a group of talented musicians from the region, including violinists Marco Fornaciari and Stefano Zanchetta, violist Marco Rizzi, and bassist Andrea Zanetti. From the beginning, the orchestra's mission was to promote classical music in Adria and the surrounding area. They began by performing in local churches and community centers, and quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality performances and innovative programming. Over the years, the orchestra has grown in size and stature, attracting some of the most talented musicians from Italy and beyond. Today, it is made up of over 50 musicians, including some of the most accomplished soloists and chamber musicians in the country. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was their performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in 1995. This was a major undertaking for the young ensemble, but they rose to the challenge and delivered a powerful and moving performance that was widely praised by critics and audiences alike. Since then, the orchestra has gone on to perform a wide range of classical repertoire, from Baroque and Classical works to contemporary compositions. They have collaborated with some of the most renowned soloists and conductors in the world, including pianist Martha Argerich, violinist Maxim Vengerov, and conductor Riccardo Muti. In addition to their regular concert series in Adria, the orchestra has also performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Italy and abroad. They have appeared at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and the Royal Albert Hall in London, among others. One of the orchestra's most memorable performances was their concert at the Vatican in 2007, where they performed for Pope Benedict XVI. This was a great honor for the ensemble, and a testament to their growing reputation as one of Italy's finest classical music ensembles. Over the years, the orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. They have won several prestigious competitions, including the International Chamber Music Competition in Trapani and the International Music Competition in Vienna. Their recordings have also been widely praised, with many critics hailing them as some of the finest interpretations of classical repertoire available. Their recording of Mozart's Requiem, conducted by Riccardo Muti, was particularly well-received, and won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance. Despite their many achievements, the members of Orchestra Città di Adria remain committed to their original mission of promoting classical music in their community. They continue to perform regularly in Adria and the surrounding area, and are actively involved in music education programs for young people. Through their dedication and passion for classical music, the members of Orchestra Città di Adria have become ambassadors for their art form, inspiring audiences around the world with their performances and recordings.
