Bamberg Duo is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 by two talented musicians, violinist Eva-Maria Zimmermann and pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi. Eva-Maria Zimmermann was born in Germany and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and later at the Juilliard School in New York. Keisuke Nakagoshi was born in Japan and started playing the piano at the age of three. He studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and later at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The two musicians met while studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They formed Bamberg Duo in 2005 and began performing together in concerts and recitals across the United States and Europe. One of the highlights of Bamberg Duo's career was their performance at the 2008 Irving M. Klein International String Competition, where they won the grand prize. This prestigious competition is open to string ensembles from around the world and is known for its high level of competition. Bamberg Duo's victory was a testament to their exceptional talent and dedication to their craft. Since then, Bamberg Duo has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany. They have also collaborated with renowned musicians such as cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Midori. In addition to their performances, Bamberg Duo is also committed to music education and outreach. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians at schools and universities across the United States and Europe. They also founded the Music by the Glass series, which brings classical music to non-traditional venues such as bars and restaurants. Bamberg Duo's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. They are known for their innovative interpretations of classical works, as well as their collaborations with contemporary composers.
