From a young age, Melo showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Melo's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned teachers in Portugal and quickly progressed in his studies. By the age of 12, Melo had already won several local and national piano competitions. In 2001, Melo was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Melo honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. After graduating from Juilliard in 2005, Melo began performing extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and dynamic pianist, known for his technical proficiency and emotional depth. One of Melo's most notable performances was at the 2008 International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. Melo's performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor earned him first prize, making him the first Portuguese pianist to win the prestigious competition. Melo's success at the International Piano Competition in Warsaw opened up many new opportunities for him. He was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In 2012, Melo released his debut album, "Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes." The album received critical acclaim and was praised for Melo's sensitive and nuanced interpretation of Chopin's music. Throughout his career, Melo has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to classical music. In 2015, he was awarded the Order of Prince Henry, one of Portugal's highest honors, for his achievements in the arts. Today, Melo continues to perform and record music, sharing his passion for classical music with audiences around the world.
