Phoenix Park-Kim is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born in Seoul, South Korea, on May 5, 1985, Phoenix showed an early interest in music. Her parents, who were both music teachers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Phoenix began her musical journey at the age of four when she started playing the piano. She quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument and began taking lessons from her mother. By the age of six, Phoenix had already won her first piano competition, and her talent continued to grow. At the age of ten, Phoenix moved to the United States with her family. She continued her musical education, studying under renowned pianists such as Yoheved Kaplinsky and Emanuel Ax. Phoenix also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Throughout her career, Phoenix has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Phoenix's most notable performances was her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2007. She performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Lorin Maazel, receiving critical acclaim for her performance. The New York Times praised her "impeccable technique and musicality," and the performance was hailed as a "triumph." Phoenix has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2004, she won the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, which helped launch her career. She has also won the Seoul International Music Competition, the Cleveland International Piano Competition, and the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. In addition to her performances and awards, Phoenix is also a dedicated music educator. She has taught at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, and she currently serves as a faculty member at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
