Strings of the Chameleon Arts Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts. The ensemble is known for its innovative programming and its commitment to performing works by both established and emerging composers. The founding members of Strings of the Chameleon Arts Orchestra were Deborah Boldin, flute; Rafael Popper-Keizer, cello; and Vivian Chang-Freiheit, piano. The ensemble was initially formed as a trio, but it quickly expanded to include other musicians, including violinists Joanna Kurkowicz and Gabriela Diaz, violist Scott Woolweaver, and clarinetist Gary Gorczyca. Since its founding, Strings of the Chameleon Arts Orchestra has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad. The ensemble has been featured at numerous festivals, including the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, and the Newport Music Festival. The ensemble has also performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. One of the highlights of Strings of the Chameleon Arts Orchestra's career was its performance at the 2004 Boston Early Music Festival. The ensemble performed a program of Baroque music, including works by Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. The performance was praised for its virtuosity and its sensitive interpretation of the music. In addition to its performances, Strings of the Chameleon Arts Orchestra has also been recognized for its recordings.
