Juan Pérez Floristán is a Spanish classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical sensitivity. Born on May 22, 1994, in Madrid, Spain, Pérez Floristán showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He received his first piano lessons from his mother, who was a music teacher, and later studied with renowned pianists such as Claudio Martínez-Mehner and Galina Eguiazarova. Pérez Floristán's talent was evident from a young age, and he quickly gained recognition in Spain and abroad. In 2008, he won first prize in the National Piano Competition "Ciudad de Albacete," and in 2010, he won first prize in the International Piano Competition "Ciudad de Huesca." These early successes paved the way for a promising career in classical music. In 2012, Pérez Floristán was awarded a scholarship to study at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, where he received guidance from renowned pianists such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Menahem Pressler, and András Schiff. During his time at the school, Pérez Floristán honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the classical repertoire. Pérez Floristán's breakthrough came in 2015, when he won first prize in the prestigious Santander International Piano Competition. This victory brought him international attention and opened doors to major concert halls and festivals around the world. Since then, Pérez Floristán has performed in some of the most renowned venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. Pérez Floristán's performances are characterized by his technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and deep understanding of the composers' intentions. He has a particular affinity for the music of Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms, and his interpretations of their works have been praised for their depth and emotional intensity. In addition to his solo performances, Pérez Floristán has collaborated with some of the most renowned orchestras and conductors. He has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Spanish National Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also worked with conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Juanjo Mena, and Pablo Heras-Casado. Pérez Floristán's recordings have also received critical acclaim. His debut album, "Schumann," was released in 2018 and received the Diapason d'Or award. The album features Pérez Floristán's interpretations of Schumann's "Carnaval," "Kreisleriana," and "Fantasy in C Major." His second album, "Beethoven," was released in 2020 and features his interpretations of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," "Pathétique Sonata," and "Appassionata Sonata." Pérez Floristán's achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his victories in piano competitions, he has received the "Young Artist of the Year" award from the International Classical Music Awards and the "Best Newcomer" award from the Spanish Association of Classical Music Critics. He has also been awarded the "Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes" by the Spanish government, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts. Despite his young age, Pérez Floristán has already established himself as one of the most promising pianists of his generation.
