At the age of 12, she made her debut as a soloist with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. Maesso continued her studies at the Madrid Royal Conservatory, where she excelled in both piano and violin. She also studied composition and conducting, which gave her a well-rounded education in music. She graduated with honors and went on to study at the Paris Conservatory, where she studied under the renowned pianist and composer, Nadia Boulanger. Maesso's career took off in the 1950s when she began performing in major concert halls throughout Europe.
